Greetings cards

Whilst unemployed for a while in 1998 I tried in earnest to get into the greetings card trade, and started off sending two designs around various publishers. I have a sheaf of rejection letters; but none sent the bad news in a greetings card, which was a little disappointing.

The first is ‘I’ve been missing You’. A delicately balanced word-play that breaks if you conjugate it wrongly. I stole it from a cartoon urging you to subscribe to a computer magazine saying ‘don’t miss out’, but made it drippingly sentimental! There is an upright version without the bloke – starker, but ties the identity of the sender down less.

The second is ‘Well done’. Yes, there’s the well; and inside it said ‘done’ in huge letters: ‘d o’ taking up the left side of the crease, ‘n e’ the right. I sent it to my brother, upon him graduating I think, and he loved it.
I will post others as I find them; the trouble with cards is I send them all away!

These cards appeal to the Erudite, Educated Elite; ever thought of setting up a trademark for such, called E Mail? I’d buy ‘em if they were published! And my family would appreciate them.
